My name is Hankie and I’m 34. I’ve decided to write a blog and start to share my experiences. I’m not writing this blog for egotistical reasons; I don’t think I’m unique or special – that’s precisely the problem. I know that there are far too many people going through what I do and if by writing about my experiences it helps just 1 person then it will be worth it.
I want to try and write about different issues that affect me but it takes a lot of confidence, thought and time, so please bear with me. I may seem eloquent – I have no idea where this has come from. It’s not always easy for me to recognise or process my own emotions and feelings (Alexithymia), let alone talk or write about them.
I’ve learnt that by being open and talking frankly about my own mental health and neurological difference I can help other people. This is incredibly scary but if I can help someone, anyone, feel less alone then it will be worth it.
I’m going to try and update this “About Me” page as I feel more able to share.
For now I’m going to start by talking about my experiences of OCD.
